Mixing dance records from stems, at £120 per hour — with a firm quote before we start.
Some engineers draw a hard line between stem mixing and multitrack mixing. I don't. We can work with whatever your track needs — grouped stems, or every individual track — and I balance, treat and glue it into a finished mix. Which option makes sense depends on the project and the budget, not on a rule.
More separation gives me more control, so a full multitrack mix usually takes longer and costs more. Grouped stems are quicker and, for a lot of electronic records, entirely sufficient — the production is already close, it just isn't sitting together. Send what you have and I'll tell you which approach the track actually needs.
Most of the records I mix, I also master. Doing both means the mix is made with the master in mind, and nothing gets fixed twice. It's usually better value as well as a better result.
